Hello! I'm Abi.
I'm a freelancer and artist born in Toronto, raised in California, molded in Brooklyn, and living in Detroit. Much like the places I’ve lived, my work history has been all over the map. The through line is that I’m passionate about creating experiences of wonder and curiosity.
At Penguin Random House I worked on transportive, award-winning books. At Atlas Obscura I helped people discover off-the-beaten-path places around the world. You can read about some of the work I did at these companies and others on my Marketing page.
My animation “Sidewalk Tidepools” imagines the life that might be hidden all around us, while “Evolution” marvels at the fact that life exists at all. More animation work, along with illustration, installation, and sculpture is on my Art page.
I also write and host international murder mystery parties that let me explore my fascination with archival research while creating evocative spaces and events that transport people back in time. You can read more about those on my Murder Mysteries page.
Freelancing has let me explore a wide breadth of industries and skills while drilling down into those I specialize in, and I’m always on the lookout for exciting new projects. If you have something you’re interested in working on together, please reach out!
